August 2024 - Windstar, French Polynesia
Hi Liz,
We had an enjoyable holiday, with sunshine every day and only once got caught in a brief shower while going for a walk on Bora Bora.
The Star Breeze was an excellent ship, with 3 restaurants. On some evenings, at the Amphora restaurant, we had shared tables with 4 to 7 other people, which was a great way to meet people. You could say you didn't mind sharing when you got to the Amphora Restaurant. You didn't have to reserve a table at that Restaurant.
Most guests on the cruise were Americans, Australians or Kiwis.
We only went snorkelling twice, once for free off the small island where we had lunch one day and once on the 3 1/2 hour Eco snorkelling Sites & Manta Rays Adventure Group boat trip, where we got taken to 4 different places. We snorkelled over about 30 Eagle Rays, then 5 huge Manta Rays (that was definitely the highlight of our trip!), a Coral Garden and then to what is called an aquarium. There were lots of friendly fish, so close to us, as this place is where people used to feed them.
The Hilton hotel was very nice and although we couldn't check in until 2 pm on the day we returned to Papeete after the cruise, a staff member stored our suitcase away safely until we could go to our room. So this was good as we arrived back at the hotel around 9 a.m.We went for a walk to a shopping mall, then lazed by and swam in the pool until check in time.
One bad thing with our room at the Hilton after the cruise, was the wooden corners on the base end of the bed. We both hit our legs on the wooden corner and Ernie took skin off his leg and bled a lot as he has low platelets. We stuffed towels around the corners to avoid hitting them again.
Luckily we had been and bought a box of plasters as we had used the supply we took with us.
Thank you so much for all your help with organizing our Tahitian holiday.
Kind regards
Lorna and Ernie
